The provision of care for young and old is one of the great challenges of the modern age and the skilled workforce remain undervalued and under-invested in. Amidst challenging demographics, declining birth- rates, how can we achieve a policy settlement that meets the rising social need for care and attention, and properly rewards and recognises those who provide it?

Panellists: 

Emma Congreve is Principal Knowledge Exchange Fellow and Deputy Director at the Fraser of Allander Institute. She has previously held roles as a senior economist at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and as an economic adviser within the Scottish Government.

Dr Donald Macaskill is the CEO of Scottish Care, the representative body of care home and care at home providers who are charitable, not for profit and private.

Professor Anne Hendry is a Senior Associate with the International Foundation for Integrated Care and is an honorary professor at the University of the West of Scotland, and Chair of Trustees at Inverclyde and Kilbryde Hospice. She was national clinical lead for reshaping care for older people in Scotland and has influenced international policy and practice on care for older people.
